When I’m shooting for wedding portraits, I try to look for something unique that will set the portrait apart from the ordinary. Something that is distinct to the character and personality of the subjects. There are probably 101 ways to shoot it, but 1 out of the 101 will stand out, and that’s what we are looking and striving for. The photo below is one of my attempts to reveal the distinct personality of the couple, showing what they have in common which happens to be uncommon (hehe!). With something permanently etched in their bodies, and being able to somehow incorporate it in the photo without distracting the whole portrait, well that’s something for me. If I haven’t done my homework, I would probably have missed out this kind of photo. I hope somehow this shot was able to tell a unique story, after all that is what a photograph is.
Photographer’s note: F/6.3, 1/80, ISO 800, Nikon D3, Nikkor AFS 70-200mm 2.8 VRII, SB-800, Pocketwizard Plus II
