One of the more popular search terms that pops out on my WordPress dashboard is “Lulugayan Falls”. Sometimes, the web search is specifically stated on how to get there. Well, it’s around 1 hour and a half from the City of Tacloban by car. Upon reaching the San Juanico Bridge’s end, turn left going to Catbalogan and Calbayog. Just go where the main road leads, and upon reaching the town of Calbiga, there is a small bridge – just right after the bridge, turn right on a small road. The road is a bit bumpy and rough, and it’s a 14 kilometer to the town of Lulugayan. Remember also to seek permit at the Calbiga’s tourism office before going on the 14 kilometer road trip. Upon reaching Lulugayan, coordinate with the barangay officials for a tour guide or you can go on your own. There are already steps and pathways leading to the falls, it’s around 800 meters from the barangay. It’s well worth the trip.
On the way to Lulugayan, you’ll be rewarded by sceneries like this:
Lulugayan Falls is certainly one of the must-see tourist spots, and a photographer’s delight. Here are a couple of my favorite shots of the day…
