Every lens for every job? Sounds so nikon Dave! Yuck.
Well, over the years I have accumulated a very few array of lenses. That frustrated photographer sometimes gets me. But actually the real reason is I’m a part gadget freak, part crazy. You go figure which part I fit more LOL!
Building a lens kit is not easy. It’s fun, but at the same time takes a lot of risks. Financially, it’s not a joke. The wrong direction of getting a particular lens will get you into more trouble. Hence I advocate in getting it right the first time. I mean, get the lens that you really want. Don’t go for “in-between” or “fill-the-gap” kinda lens just to suit your needs now. You might end up selling it for a lower price and buying another, which would have cost so much lesser if you went straight ahead to what you really wanted.
The shot here I want to share is where exactly the Nikkor AFS 200mm 2 VR shines. Most probably a Nikkor AFS 70-200mm 2.8 VRII would have done the job at F/2.8… but F/2 is a full-stop advantage. The advantage will be on your shutter speed and you’ll have cleaner ISO to start with. Every lens for every job, so to speak.
Photographer’s note: F/2, 1/320, ISO 800, Nikon D3, Nikkor AFS 200mm 2 VR
