Cropping with the Nikon D800E

Cropping the D800E… How far can it go? at 36 megapixel, it’s bordering the medium format resolution and it’s amazing how much you can crop. I only crop to straighten a photo or better the composition, but very seldom I do it. I like to compose it well and good at the time I press the shutter. This does not mean I have more leeway to crop by now… it’s enough to know the cropping ability is there.

Having said that, I am actually more careful and mindful of my composition now, stricter in a sense, because back in my mind, I don’t wanna waste the 36mp advantage of the D800E. So it’s in fact helping me more in a way! That’s good.

The D800E is a new ballgame for me, it somehow renewed my enthusiasm to “re-shoot” again the usual subjects with more discipline and more attention to the minute details this time, yeah!

Note: Photo below was taken handheld at 1/40, a shutter speed I can’t effectively handhold hence I usually stay away from these shutter speeds. But for purposes of testing the limits and the ability of the D800E, it’s worth trying I guess:
