Balut is a native Filipino street food that is a must-try for the adventurous foodie. It is a fertilized duck egg that is boiled and eaten in the shell. I recommend the 16 or 17 day-old egg as the embryo inside is not yet matured. Street price is around P15 (around $ 0.35 cents) each. It might be a bit “yucky” to some, but surely a delight to others, including me. I can easily eat 3 of them, sssshhhh…. Next time you are in this part of the world, give it a try. Let me know if you like it or not. But don’t blame me if it ain’t good for your taste buds, I’ll refund to you P15 but please buy me an ice cold beer in return okay? Haha. Stay safe.
